Band Withdraws from Blaenavon

It’s not something that any band likes doing but Cross Keys Silver Band have agreed to withdraw from the upcoming Blaenavon contest due to multiple reasons including the suprise departure of two promenent members.

Having only recently decided upon a testpiece to play at Blaenavon we have received news that our Principal Cornet, Karla Howe and her father, First Trombonist Ian Howe have decided to resign. At present, we’re not sure what has provoked their decision, but we wish them both the best in their musical careers and thank them both for their efforts during their time at Cross Keys.

Withdrawal from Blaenavon contest not only allows us to concentrate on programmes for other events such as next Friday’s Remembrance Concert, but gives us time to try and recruit new members to fill our empty seats. Please see the Vacancies page fo more information if you’re interested in joining.

As this point, we haven’t cancelled any other engagements and plan on battling through the harsh conditions of the festive season.
